Again, my parents' back yard. This tree is so amazing to me. It's some sort of acacia, which is a very ancient type of tree, and when it's in bloom, as you can see, it looks like it's covered in tiny pom-poms!

#573 in the never-ending list of random things that fascinate me: lights in elevators. #46: lines. #113: shadows. #1: bold color. #70: The Smiths. Okay, really, I don't have all my fixations numbered. I just made that up (I also have a fixation with numbers). But this is a nice convergence of many of my very favorite things to photograph. Except for The Smiths. Because, you know, they're broken up. But I do like to name my photographs after songs by The Smiths. You will notice that if you stick around.

This is my parents' back yard. Seriously. If you look over that chain link fence, you will see the lights of San Diego stretched out below you, and beyond those, the ocean. This is why my parents' house is my favorite vacation spot.

I have this green glass vase which I received as a Secret Santa gift from a co-worker four or five years ago that I find endlessly fascinating. And this is it. And also my fingers, which I find equally fascinating at times. You know, it's the little things in life...

The tail of our cat, Ash, who has since moved out and joined another family whom he adores even more than he adored hanging out on this windowsill. I miss that guy! This photo came out really ridiculously over-exposed, but I love it--I don't think it looks like a photo at all! Accidents can turn out very nicely sometimes.

I take a lot of self portraits. I'm not entirely sure why, other than the fact that it's much easier to deal with directing and posing myself than it is to deal with directing and posing someone else. Also, I really miss this sweater!
